The Nyapui Secondary School of Excellence is a model science school focusing on improving access to a quality science education for young girls in Sierra Leone. The school is an action point for the construction of similar schools across Sierra Leone. The school was constructed by SEND Sierra Leone with financial support from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Terra Tech Förderprojekte e.V under the Kenema Education Project implemented between 2020-2022. In collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Basic Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Kenema District authorities and other stakeholders, the school is managed by the Nyapui School Board with a Headmistress and her team of qualified teaching staff.
The school began its journey with the Junior Secondary School (JSS), marking its initial steps towards providing quality education to girls. Over the years, Nyapui School has expanded its offerings and infrastructure. As of the 2024 academic year, the school celebrates its fourth anniversary and continues to grow. Having started with JSS1, the school has now introduced JSS2, with plans to welcome JSS3 students next year. The institution's primary focus has always been on enabling girls to continue their education, particularly in the sciences, where they are encouraged to excel.
Nyapui School is not only committed to academic excellence but also to providing a comprehensive educational experience. A standout feature of the school is its state-of-the-art information computer lab, which plays a crucial role in promoting digital literacy among girls. This facility equips students with the necessary skills to embrace technology and prepare for the future.
